The City of Scottsville is a small but progressive community, nestled in the Mississippian Plateaus area of South Central Kentucky. We are bordered on the north by Barren River Lake, a 10,000 acre TVA flood control impoundment that provides great family recreational opportunities, and to the south by the State of Tennessee. With Bowling Green to the northwest and Nashville to the south, we are close to everything but far enough away that you can enjoy our rural lifestyle.
While we are a small economy, our strength lies in a strong industrial base, a vibrant agricultural community and our ability to reach beyond our borders in providing goods and services to the regional market. Our economic development efforts to build and maintain a vibrant economy is led by the Scottsville Allen County Industrial Development Authority and our director Richie Sanders. Their website is Scottsvillegrowth.com.
When you visit our town you will notice our community pride through the efforts made by the Heart of Scottsville, our Main Street community development agency. Over the last 10 years we have transformed a worn out city square into a beautiful and vibrant square with a park like setting. This effort is ongoing today as we are reaching out from the city square to the new community park on East Main Street, the Public Spring Park and our new Pocket Park located just off the Square on South Court Street. On the west side of the square, our new Justice Center, with its bell tower containing the 1920 Courthouse Bell, is stirring interest in the rejuvenation of the West Main Street historic district. We are also proud of the efforts to develop the Dumont Hill Civil War Encampment Park. This provides scenic walking trails, both paved and semi-permanent surface. There are many hidden gems in Scottsville and we hope you will visit and let us show you why we have community pride. Visit our Heart of Scottsville website for more details.
