THE SCOTTSVILLE-ALLEN COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION MEETS ON THE THIRD MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH. BOARD AGENDAS ARE AVAILABLE BY THE 15TH OF EACH MONTH BY CALLING OUR OFFICE AT 270-237-4180, OR STOPPING BY THE OFFICE, LOCATED IN THE BASEMENT OF THE CITY-COUNTY BUILDING.

General Information

THE SCOTTSVILLE-ALLEN COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION IS A JOINT PLANNING COMMISSION FORMED UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF THE KENTUCKY REVISED STATUS, CHAPTER 100 - PLANNING AND ZONING*.   THE PLANNING COMMISSION OFFICE IS LOCATED IN THE BASEMENT OF THE CITY-COUNTY BUILDING, 201 WEST MAIN STREET, SCOTTSVILLE, KENTUCKY, AND IS OPEN MONDAY - FRIDAY FROM 8:00 AM TO 5:00 PM.

THIS OFFICE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:
REQUEST FOR REZONING OF PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SCOTTSVILLE
(SEE
CITY ZONING);

  • This includes review of development plans,
  • Public Hearing and local comments,
  • Review, filing and enforcement of Binding Elements related to Development Plans,
  • Presentation to City Council for adoption, and
  • Amendments to City Zoning Map (see current Zoning Map).
  • Approval and filing of minor subdivision plats (see Subdivision Development):
    • A Minor subdivision plat can be defined as a subdivision of an original tract into five or less nonagricultural lots where no new roads are required.
  • Public Hearing, review and filing of major subdivision plats (see Subdivision Development):
    • A Major subdivision plat can be defined as any subdivision of property which does not qualify as a minor subdivision.
  • Provide additional services to the community and local government to include:
    • Provide new street numbers for all residents. (see 911 address form).
    • Assist in the development of 911 maps and data base.
    • Assist in the Heart of Scottsville renovation project.
    • Serve as local representative on regional water, sewer and transportation boards.
    • Assist the Industrial Development Authority in the recruitment and retention of economic development activities.

    Comprehensive Plan Update 2003/2004

    During the fall of 2002 the Comprehensive Plan Update Committee has completed a Vision Statement along with Goals and Objectives for the Comprehensive Plan.  The Planning Commission, after holding a public hearing on Monday, September 16, 2002, approved the document and has forwarded it to the City and County for Public Hearings and adoption which has been completed.
