The Zoning Ordinance for the City of Scottsville was adopted in December, 1998 with an effective date of January 1, 1999. The Zoning Ordinance was adopted in this rural community, to improve the living environment, to encourage planned developments and to provide guidance for future growth.   • Conditional Uses in Agricultural Districts include:

    • Industrial-scale raising and feeding of animals, including poultry, ,
    • Sewage Disposal Plants,
    • Wireless transmitting stations,
    • Travel trailer parks and camp grounds,
    • Child care centers, nurseries, day care centers and kindergartens, and
    • Land farming.*
  • Conditional uses in Residential Districts (SF and MF) include:
    • Child care centers, nurseries, day care centers and kindergartens,
    • Churches and other places of worship, parish houses,
    • Public libraries, schools offering a general education course,
    • Country Clubs and golf courses, public parks,
    • Cemeteries, private hospitals, and
    • Bed and Breakfast.*
  • Conditional uses in Business Districts (B-1 and B-2) include:
    • Printing, Publication or engraving (B-1 only),
    • Child care centers, nurseries, day care centers and kindergartens.*
  • Conditional uses in Light Industrial Districts (I-1) include:
    • Child care centers, nurseries, day care centers and kindergartens, when operated in conjunction with a business or industry located in an I-1 District
    • Tobacco processing
    • Central mixing plants for asphalt, cement or mortar.*
  • Conditional uses in Heavy Industrial Districts (I-2) include:
    • Child care centers, nurseries, day care centers and kindergartens, when operated in conjunction with a business or industry located in an I-2 District
    • Bag-cleaning, boiler and tank works, central mixing plants, coke oven, curing tanning and storage of rawhides and skins, ,distillation, forge plant or metal fabrication, slaughter house or stockyards, smelting plants, certain chemical plants and storage facilities, and
    • Restricted Motor Vehicle Dealers and Vehicle, Machinery and Material Recyclers.*
